7 Types Of Finesse Rigs For Tough Fishing Every Angler Should Know

Contrary to power fishing, which uses big reaction lures to quickly cover a large amount of water, finesse fishing is to use down-sized lures to stimulate lazy and low-activity bass to prey and attack. Speaking of finesse fishing, today we will talk about 7 common finesse fishing rigs.

1)Drop shot rig

The drop shot rig is to tie the fishing hook directly to the fishing line, tie the remaining part of the fishing line to a small weight, and then hang the soft lure on the fishing hook to make the whole rig vertical.

Operation method: Don't shake your fishing rod frequently. With the undercurrent of the underwater, combined with some of your common hand movements, the lure will show a lot of different performances.

Scope of application: The drop shot rig is suitable for many fishing situations, deep, shallow, and anywhere in between.

2)Ned rig

The Ned rig is to hang a small chunk of a soft lure on a standing mushroom-shaped lead hook so that the rig is standing on the bottom of the water.

Operation method: Slow is the essence of Ned's rig. After throwing, don't shake the fishing rod frequently. It's better to let the fishing line shake slightly between loose and tight. Or don't jump, just drag the rig to the bottom of the water.

Scope of application: It is ideal for use in harsh conditions or pressured waters.

3)Texas rig

The Texas rig is the most widely used and is very easy to assemble. The components required for a Texas rig are a soft lure, bullet-shaped weight, a pegging device, and a hook. Attach a bullet-shaped weight to the main fishing line, followed by a glass or plastic bead, and attach the fishing line to the fishing hook, which is inserted into the worm's head.

Operation method: The Texas rig is more particular about rhythm, the pulling frequency should not be too fast, increase the process of soft lure sinking and free stay in the water, and cooperate with small twitches.

Scope of application: Useful for not seeing any obstacles and surfaces and around weed beds.

4)Carolina rig

The Carolina rig is one of the most popular bass rigs. The Carolina rig is composed of a leader line, a bullet weight, a bead, a swivel, a hook, and a soft lure. Add a sinker using egg or bullet-type weights to the leader line, add a bead behind it, then tie it to a swivel, the leader line that keeps a distance after the swivel. We usually will keep our leader line between 12 and 24 inches. Finally, tie the hook on the end of the leader line and attach the soft lure.

Operation method: slow and drag, pause, pull, and stop mainly.

Scope of application: The Carolina Rig can have a weight that is up to 2 ounces, making it great for deep water fishing. The Carolina rig is very effective for capturing bass in a variety of situations, especially in heavy grass areas.

5)Split shot rig

The split shot rig consists of a small split-shot sinker, a soft lure, and a fishing hook. Attach a fishing hook to the fishing line and clip a small split sinker to the fishing line 10 to 12 inches above the hook to hold the rig.

Operation method: Throw the rig and keep the fishing rod level. After the lure sinks to the bottom, the fishing rod is raised to the vertical position, then lower the fishing rod, and the slack line is slowly tightened, and so on.

Scope of application: The split shot rigs are best for shallow water. Because of their lightweight, they are especially effective when used in areas of dense grass mats.

6)No sinker rig

The no sinker rig has no rig accessories, only a soft lure, and a hook. Especially soft lures with "high specific gravity", or "large tail".

Operation method: After throwing the lure into the water, first put some extra dotted lines and wait. While waiting, put some extra dotted lines, waiting for the lure to fall to the bottom. Putting the dotted line is to allow the lure to sink into your intended fishing spot as naturally as possible.

Scope of application: Suitable for water with a gravel bottom.

7)Wacky rig

The Wacky rigs are very popular rigs that use worms and night crawlers. Hang the fishing hook around the waist or 2/3 of the soft lure, leaving the end of the fishing hook exposed.

Operation method: By shaking the fishing rod slightly first, the soft worms can show a natural peristaltic swimming pattern in the water, and lead needles can also be inserted into the left and right sides of the soft worms to change the peristaltic swimming pattern.

Scope of application: The wacky rig has a horizontal falling action with a slower fall speed and is suitable for pressure waters.
